I met some really nice people at the market especially Tina at the stall next to me who made necklaces out of buttons. There was one elderly lady who wasn't very nice though and said the price of my miniature cake was ridiculous and how could she possibly afford that. Then she ran off! There was a tombola featuring as prizes what seemed to be the unwanted contents of somebody's bathroom. I took a photo when no one was looking. The tombola lady said she would tell my fortune. As I had predicted to myself, the predictions were a bit vague but apparently there are angels looking over me (!). She also said I should come to her cancer support group and it didn't matter that I didn't have cancer or know anyone who had it. But I can't as it is a four hour train journey from where I live.

Very Messy Workstation

I am just in the process of making some heart earrings but until I have worked out how to take some decent pictures of them I thought I would show some photos of my very messy workstation.

Into The Woods Open House

We went to the private view at the Into The Woods Open House in Florence road in Brighton on Friday and there were loads of things to look at. The best things were made by Emily Warren. For quite a lot of the time though I just stood and ate the crisps because they were kettle chips. Also there were homemade sushi rolls that I could fit in my mouth in one go. Alice bought a ring that looked like it should have magical powers then we watched the chickens running around.

Eating cakes in the name of research

Being the dedicated researchers that we are, the MiniPatisserie team have been visiting various full size patisseries. Our favourite so far is Cocoa on Queens Road in Brighton. The cakes and coffee are perfect (there is a cake gallery on their website to check out) and the people who work there are lovely and always remember us when we go in. We recommend the pear and chocolate tart or the passion fruit and white chocolate.

The Buttercup cafe in Lewes is a lovely place as well. I had no idea it was there until last week but I'm glad I was introduced to it as the chocolate cake was amazing.

Another place we went was the C&H cafe which was a bit over priced but I took a photo of a trifle (which I didn't buy).


In other news, I made these cupcakes for my brother who loves Roger Federer. I think you'll agree it is quite possibly the most artistic thing I've ever done. However, if you prefer slightly classier cupcakes then check out our friend Lucy and her Heaven Is a Cupcake site as they are rather good.
